The foundation gives scholarship to 6 Nigerian students:

“Givanas Charitable foundation has given out awards totalling about N1.5million as reward for excellence and hard work to students of Nigeria’s tertiary institutions from the six geopolitical zones of the country. Speaking at the award ceremony in Lagos, the chairman of the foundation and managing director of Givana Nigeria Ltd, the sponsor of the foundation, Mr. Samir Ajami told the beneficiaries and audience that the gesture was Givana’s contribution to the development of education in Nigeria.

According to him, the company has benefitted immensely from the economic policies of successive governments in Nigeria and therefore, has no choice than to contribute to the uplifting of its citizens. “This is our way of doing that and meeting our social responsibility obligations”, he said. The representative of the Federal Scholarship Board, Mr. Paulinus Ikeanyionwu told the audience that the beneficiaries were selected from the six geopolitical zones of the country through competitive examinations that eventually produced a candidate from each zone. He said for a candidate to qualify, he must be an undergraduate in any of the Nigerian institutions of higher learning and must have spent one year in his or her course of study.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Chiahemba Lorember, a medical student from university of Ibadan thanked Givanas for the scholarship award and pledged they would abide by the laid down rules and regulation that guide the award from the company. The six awardees who received N150,000 each were: Mr. Audu Mohammed Nasara (Abubakar tawafa Balewa University), Chiahemba Iorember (University of Ibadan), Obi Akachukwu John-paul (Nnamdi Azikiwe University), Odu Olatunji James (university of Ibadan) and Oghemevieze Samuel Omojeewho ( Federal University of Technology, Akure).
